Presentation of the territory of Valga, its natural resources (Ulla River, Parafita Waterfalls, Mercedes Mine) and the main routes that cross the municipality such as the Portuguese Way or the Camino Real.
On this floor, visitors become aware of Valga as a geographical identity.
On this floor, the History of Valga itself is presented.
From 1800 B.C. to the present day, visitors can explore the main historical and artistic elements, including Romanesque and neoclassical churches.
Archaeological remains from active sites such as Igrexa Vella or Mercado dos Mouros (an ancient Roman port on the Ulla River) are also displayed.
Visitors can also see landmarks such as the Battle of Casaldeirigo or admire pieces like the Setecoros Capital from the 6th century.
Floor dedicated to illustrious figures such as Xesús Ferro Couselo and Bella Otero.
Unique pieces include a facsimile of Bella Otero’s birth certificate, international newspapers, ceramic figures and the only preserved recording of the most recognised artist of the Belle Époque.
A short video filmed with the Lumière brothers’ camera is also shown.
Outside the main building, a traditional house recreated with ethnographic pieces allows visitors to understand daily life in Galicia at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
It also helps understand the environment where Bella Otero grew up before becoming an international star.
